Slurp the Smoothie

The summertime sweat and dehydration calls for refreshing drinks. Put the temptation for coffees and aerated drinks aside and opt for nutritious smoothies to quench the thirst. Smoothies are thick alternatives to shakes with little or no milk. They are light and refreshing. Take a look at some of the most delicious and easy to make smoothies.

Banana Smoothie

Banana smoothies are the most common smoothies and can be easily made. Blend a banana, some milk, sugar to taste and lots of ice and the smoothie is ready. Banana can be frozen and then used for a chiller version. Cocoa powder can also be added to compensate for the temptations of chocolate and coffee. Banana’s thick texture makes the smoothies filling.

Cucumber Smoothie

Cucumber is 96% water and the best option for summers. Cucumber is watery and hence should be blended with other fruits or vegetables. Blend it with spinach leaves or mint leaves. Add sugar or honey as per the taste. Another alternative could be yoghurt. Yoghurt gives a texture to the smoothie and makes for a refreshing drink.

Mango Smoothie

Mango is the seasonal fruit that should not be missed. A frozen mango blended well with yoghurt enriches the tangy flavors of the mango whereas a adding some milk and sugar enriches the sweetness of the fruit. Mango smoothies are very frothy and a delicious option for the summer heat. As opposed to the milkshake that has more milk and less mango, a smoothie is rich with mango pulps and tastes very natural.

Kiwi Smoothie

Kiwi is a citrus fruit and hence very tangy. Kiwi smoothies can be blended in water with a handful of nuts like walnuts, almonds or cashews. They can be mixed with strawberries for a mix of tinge. Adding ice gives a thick texture.

For a more natural approach, add dates or honey instead of sugar. For a crunchier version, add nuts.
